Council approves purchase of fuel tank for airport, authorizes budget action

The Omak City Council voted to approve the Infrastructure Committee’s recommendation to purchase a fuel tank from Moses Lake for the airport at a cost of $75,000 and to pursue installation. Member Dave Womack reported the installation quote from MTM Services is $80,784; Member Michelle Gaines moved to purchase and Member Nattalie Cariker seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
City Administrator Todd McDaniel told the Council the airport fund’s ending balance is higher than expected and recommended a transfer to cover the tank cost rather than a loan from Current Expense. Councilmembers asked whether MTM’s quote included permitting; Public Works Director Wayne Beetchenow said MTM routinely handles such projects and staff will prepare the related public-works contract and resolution for installation work.
