Kyler said the campus hosts several outside partners — a prevention team, Families First and Essex County Behavioral Health — providing a weekly, on-site social-worker presence to help students and families. He highlighted a Cornell Cooperative Extension farm-to-school partnership and a volunteer-run 4 Winds Nature Institute program serving pre-K through fifth grade, both of which the district plans to expand.
Kyler described recent and pending grants: a Connect Kids to Parks reimbursement program for field-trip costs, an Adirondack Foundation application for $20,000 (to expand farm-to-school opportunities and the 4 Winds program), and plans to reapply to Solvamo for the backpack food program. He also announced a PBIS incentive (a claw machine) and family breakfast initiative; he recognized music teacher Miss Mural on the eve of her final younger-grade concert after a 32-year career.
Board members praised recent concerts and asked for clarifications about grant timelines; Kyler said the UPK amendment will be filed in March and other grant amendments are formalities.
