Facilities director warns of recurring repairs; Lakeview grinder pump estimated at about $18,500

Facilities director Bob Rice briefed the board on multiple maintenance issues and near-term capital needs.
Rice said the cafeteria drain line at Mountain View repeatedly clogs and the district is considering using a jet pump with hydraulic pressure to clear the line instead of repeated snaking calls. He reported painting projects, kitchen and hood updates, and work to address roof drains and flashing at Lakeview. Of particular note, Rice said a Lakeview grinder pump malfunctioned again and the field estimate for replacement is about $18,500; he said the district hopes to postpone large replacements until the next budget cycle. "It's very expensive," he said of the pump estimate.
Rice also listed possible minor capital items for the bus garage (roof and siding), parking-lot repairs, carpeting for eligible classrooms and kitchen Ansel-system updates. He said requisitions for a van, short bus and truck are in place pending voter approval of the related propositions.
