District says capital project delayed pending NYSED cost allowance; board reviews facilities recommendations

"What everyone wants to know is what is this going to cost us," Doctor Meyer said, noting that without MCA figures a May vote is unlikely.
The board revisited facilities-committee recommendations: new construction and renovations at the Mountain View campus to support a preK-12 program, foundation and flooring repairs, HVAC and Ansel fire-suppression updates, chemistry lab upgrades and electrical work. Doctor Meyer and facilities staff said architects adjusted a proposed footprint to an L-shaped addition after addressing concerns about the septic tank location. Board members emphasized the need for clearer timing and suggested reconvening stakeholders and, if necessary, contacting state representatives to seek clarifying meetings with NYSED.
Board members and the superintendent also discussed the energy performance contract (EPC), which the board previously approved; Doctor Meyer said public approval of the EPC would yield an additional 10% of state aid. The superintendent urged patience while the district waits for accurate cost figures before finalizing voter-facing materials and a formal timeline for a capital project vote.
