Center ISD board accepts resignations of high school principal and middle school teacher

The Center Independent School District Board of Trustees approved two staff resignations at a special called meeting on Jan. 16, 2025.
Trustee Casey Lout moved, and Trustee James Ragan seconded, “to approve the resignation of the following contracted personnel as recommended by Dr. Morris,” naming Otis Amy, CHS principal, and Erik Moore, CMS teacher. The motion carried 6-0. The minutes record the vote as carried unanimously by the six trustees present (Josh Burns; Gregg Hubbard; Casey Lout; Cody Miller; James Ragan; and Deuce Wulf). Trustee Traci Willoughby was recorded absent.
Superintendent Dr. Brian Morris recommended the resignations to the board; the minutes do not include statements from Amy or Moore or specify effective dates for the resignations. The board did not record any amendments to the recommendations.
The decision followed a closed-session personnel discussion earlier in the meeting. The minutes note that after the closed session the board returned to open session at 12:27 p.m. and that no action was taken in closed session itself.
Board members present and administrative staff listed in the minutes included Chief Financial Officer Valerie Moore and other district administrators; the meeting was held in the CISD board room at 107 Private Road 605 in Center, Texas. The special meeting began at 12:00 p.m. and was adjourned at 12:28 p.m.
