SHAC highlights suicide-prevention activities and pending protocol revisions
Summary
Center ISD SHAC members reported campus suicide-prevention activities for September and asked for simplified, Board-submitted protocols; district staff will request and circulate the updated protocol once approved.
Ashley Wulf told the committee that "September is Suicide Awareness Prevention Month" and described Center Middle Schools use of Character Education lessons, posters, and a planned chat line to give students a way to speak with someone.
Joyce Permenter asked whether suicide-response protocols have been revised and simplified; Wulf said Kasi Trent-Ashley has submitted revised protocols and they are awaiting Board approval. Permenter requested a copy of the revised protocols, and Melissa Torrence said she would ask Kasi Trent-Ashley to send them.
