He described a new initiative, 'Framed in History,' that will present framed historic photographs to owners of historically significant properties, citing Kelly Brewing Company (former grammar school site) as the first recipient scheduled for April 16.
Johnson also updated commissioners on Living History Day at Villa Miramonte on May 2 (11 a.m.–3 p.m.), which will include docent-led tours, period dress, children’s activities and interactive exhibits, and previewed the society’s documentary Streets of Freedom due to debut July 3. He said the Historical Society collaborated with the city and community partners on projects for Women’s History Month and the 120th anniversary and plans additional exhibits, commemoratives and tours later in the year.
Commissioners praised the society’s outreach at the farmers market and asked for shareable materials; Johnson said he would provide flyers and electronic copies for staff to distribute.
