The business office presented the district's summer work: the annual external audit's sample of about 125 items yielded zero findings to date; payroll and attendance rollover was completed; an online new-employee onboarding site went live; and more than 450 purchase orders were processed between July 1 and Aug. 31.
Hayden, the business-office representative, said the district closed the 2425 fiscal year earlier than last year and completed a year-long state-aid review that found no missed claims. The office also calculated tax rates and issued tax bills for approximately 3,800 parcels and submitted the STAR reimbursement application the morning of the meeting. On forecasting, Hayden said a five-year projection had been prepared previously and that key performance indicators such as expenditures per student and substitute-teacher costs can be prepared for the next board packet.
Board members asked whether the district subscribes to external forecasting software; Hayden said some districts use Frontline but the district can produce projections internally and will provide requested KPIs and comparative trend data at the next meeting. The business office also flagged a projected increase in employer retirement costs for non-certified staff (ERS) and noted the teacher retirement system (TRS) projection used for budgeting was 9.59% for the year.
