Burleson ISD recognizes UIL champions, All-State singers and National Merit honorees
Summary
The board recognized Burleson High School’s unified cheer team (1st place UIL Unified Cheer State), the varsity cheer team (2nd at UIL Spirit State Championship), several All-State choir students, a district spelling bee winner, and two National Merit Scholars.
Dr. Mikala Hill, Chief of Staff, invited school coaches and directors to recognize student achievements from across the district.
Coach Victoria Butler recognized the Burleson High School unified cheer team for placing first at the UIL Unified Cheer State Competition and the varsity cheer team for placing second at the UIL Spirit State Championship. Choir directors Mr. Travis Campbell (STEAM Middle School) and Ms. Megan Stubblefield (Kerr Middle School) honored students named to Middle School/Junior High All-State Choirs: Everett Bates, Kyle Fernengel, Samuel Kamantauskas and Marcy Sammons. Dr. Stacia Pearce recognized Lillian Morelock as the district area spelling bee winner and identified Thomas Bowles (Burleson High School) and Aditi Ray (Centennial High School) as National Merit Scholars.
Board members acknowledged the recognitions; Ms. Pat Worrell noted her granddaughter was among those honored. The recognitions were ceremonial and no board action was required.
