Burleson ISD board grants president temporary authority to approve hires

Mrs. Jerri McNair, President of the Burleson Independent School District Board of Trustees, announced the board reconvened in open session after a closed meeting and that personnel matters had been discussed.
On a motion by Mr. Ryan Richardson, seconded by Mrs. Dallas Owen, the board voted unanimously to grant the Board President authority to approve new hires between the April meeting and the board’s next regular meeting in May. The board recorded its intent to consider ratifying any such hires at the May meeting. The motion carried with the recorded yeas of Mr. Michael Ancy, Mrs. Staci Eisner, Mrs. Jerri McNair, Mrs. Dallas Owen, Mr. Ryan Richardson and Ms. Pat Worrell and no nays.
The board’s action follows a closed-session personnel review under provisions of the Texas Government Code governing closed meetings. The minutes note the superintendent would present personnel matters at the request of the board president but do not specify individual hires or positions; the board did not adopt any specific employment contracts at the April meeting.
