Audit Committee approves canceling June and July meetings; PSCOB support to shift to Manager’s Office

The Audit Committee voted unanimously to cancel its June 4 and July 2, 2026 meetings. Mr. Blount moved to cancel the June and July meetings; Dr. Thomas seconded the motion and it passed without opposition. The committee set its next meeting for August 6, 2026 at 10:30 a.m.
Staff also reported roughly 40 hours of support provided to the Public Safety Civilian Oversight Board (PSCOB) over the prior month for one active complaint and a new jail-related policy review. A transition plan will shift responsibility for PSCOB oversight to the Manager’s Office; Manager Cowell said that, assuming the Commission approves reallocating a position, hiring would take 30–60 days and training/transition another 30–60 days. The Internal Auditor confirmed the ACCGov FY25 financial review report has been posted online and the committee discussed that comprehensive forensic audits are typically impractical and cost-prohibitive except in narrow cases.
