The Chapel Hill Independent School District Board approved the certified appraisal roll from the Smith County Appraisal District and adopted a total tax rate of $1.1051 per $100 valuation for the 2024–25 year.
Clint McLain, Executive Director of Finance, told the board that the certified roll includes appraised, assessed and taxable values as of Jan. 1, 2024, and noted properties under protest were included in the roll. McLain presented the tax-rate calculation required by Property Tax Code Section 26.04 and recommended retaining the Maintenance & Operations rate at $0.7251 and setting the Interest & Sinking rate at $0.38, for a total rate of $1.1051 per $100 valuation. The board approved the recommendation (motion by Les Schminkey, second by David Acker) by a 6–0 vote.
The board recorded that the debt-service portion is $0.38 per $100 and that the M&O rate remains at $0.7251; the district previously adopted the 2024–25 budget on June 17, 2024. The approval followed certification of values by the Smith County Appraisal District and fulfills the notice and calculation requirements of state property-tax law.
