Dr. Meyer told the board that BOCES costs will rise next year because of new facilities and programmatic changes, estimating an increase of about $167,000 next year and noting that BOCES lines appear large in the budget but bring significant value and some reimbursement the following year.
Students and staff highlighted expanded AP and college-bridge offerings that now include AP English Literature, AP U.S. History, AP Psychology, advanced world languages and several college-credit bridge courses. One student said the AP and bridge classes provide college credit and strengthen college applications: "I'm in AP Psych, and I'm in AP US history. And they're incredible, and we then have college credit," the student said. Dr. Meyer said combining the pre-merger course lists produced a much larger set of college-level options and suggested the district could offer seats to neighboring districts or deliver courses through distance platforms for a small number of students.
