Resident says abandoned house at 1122 N. J St. has become 'active drug house'; asks city to act

Lucas Redfern, a new homeowner on North Jay Street, told the commission that a neighboring property at 1122 North J Street has become an "active drug house" and described repeated public-safety incidents. "The property at 1122 North J Street has generated countless responses from the Palm Beach County Sheriff Department, including 2 SWAT deployments that resulted in arrests," Redfern said, and described ongoing looting, people living without utilities and multiple overdoses steps from his driveway.
Redfern asked the city to use "every legal tool available" or advise him on additional actions to address the property quickly. Commissioners acknowledged the problem, said they had met with PBSO and legal staff would follow up the next day to review enforcement options and possible remedies for abandoned, uninhabitable properties. City staff and the county sheriff's office were asked to coordinate and report back to the commission.
