County roads staff told commissioners they have an agreement with the Alabama Department of Transportation for the Riverside bridge replacement on Depot Street and that they will present an engineering-services agreement for the project by the end of the month.
"That's the bridge replacement replacement project on Depot Street," a commissioner said during questions; Clay said planning and right-of-way work will likely occupy the better part of the coming year, and that the cast-and-place culvert phase could require roughly six calendar months of active work and traffic management. Commissioners asked about potential bypass routing to reduce detour distances during construction; staff said a bypass plan is included in the design scope.
Staff asked that the ALDOT agreement and the engineering contract be placed on the regular agenda when ready so the commission can act on the contract award and construction schedule.
