County OKs $701,000 unified Genetec access‑control system for 13 buildings

The project budget is $701,000; staff said $460,000 of that was previously earmarked in the capital improvement plan and the remaining $241,000 would be covered with identified bond funds. IT staff emphasized scalability and that Genetec is already used by other Georgia counties and larger jurisdictions. "We settled on the Genetec system," staff said, noting expandability and cyber protections as deciding factors.
Commissioners moved and seconded a request authorizing the chairman to execute the contract contingent on county attorney approval. The motion carried on a recorded show of hands. Staff said implementation could occur in roughly a 3–6 month window and that some existing badges could be reused while new badges would be issued for unified access control.
