Public works reported that the walking bridge project is roughly a month ahead of schedule due to favorable weather and low water, with crews finishing work on the structure’s bottom and preparing to install the top. “The walking bridge… today is about a month ahead of schedule,” the director said.
Staff also described diver inspections at Jugstream Dam that uncovered leakage near the sluice gate and around the shore. Temporary measures (sandbags and riprap) are in place while engineers prepare a design; staff said the final construction will likely be a significant project requiring public hearings, budget planning and coordination with neighboring Winthrop. Staff estimated the replacement could range from about $200,000 to $400,000 depending on engineered design and that resiliency grants may be an available funding source.
