Public Works reported the bid opening for the downtown sidewalk project and explained schedule and scope constraints; the low bid was approximately $790,777 in initial rounds. Staff recommended proceeding with the low bidder after re-evaluation and the Select Board moved to authorize Justin to initiate a contract with C and C Construction for the project. “We have a motion by Darlene and a 2nd by Kent to authorize Justin to accept the sidewalk construction project proposal C and C Construction,” the chair said; later the chair recorded the motion as passed with a 4–0 vote.
Staff noted the state will pay roughly $300,000 toward a portion of the work and the remainder will come from local TIF/downtown funds so the project will not affect the town’s tax budget or require borrowing. The board authorized contract initiation and instructed staff to manage schedule adjustments to accommodate electrical and material lead times.
