City says pool grant will move forward if no referendum; officials discuss fundraising and pass options

A city official told the commission the pool bond funding has cleared the previous approval steps and the city is in a waiting period for a permissive referendum through May 13. "There is a waiting period of May 13 in which somebody can file for the, permissive referendum," the official said; if none is filed, the city will execute a grant disbursement agreement with the state and move forward with engineering work.
The official also said the commission discussed a donation and fundraising pathway for pool enhancements, naming a community member who may serve as liaison. During public comment, resident Vicky Andrews urged the commission to consider a day pass for visitors, saying, "I'm not paying $40 to go twice," and raised concerns about long-term tax increases and scheduling for the Sept. 11 commemoration and fall festival.
