On safety, staff said the district applied for and was awarded a COPS grant to support PA system replacement and other security enhancements, but the grant requires district seed money. Staff recited a seed‑money figure of $108,000 to leverage roughly $354,000 from the grant in total, characterizing the work as a one‑time expenditure to install visual signage, strobes and an upgraded PA integrated with existing infrastructure. The district said it is obtaining multiple vendor quotes and aims to begin work possibly this summer pending contract awards.
