Commission told new municipal judge sworn in; timing for cases depends on state office

Staff updated the commission that Judge Westmoreland has been sworn in and that the Administrative Office of the Courts in Santa Fe will coordinate mentoring and education before the judge begins regular court sessions. "The judge, of course, has been sworn in," staff said, noting two-way communication is underway to arrange training and a mentor assignment.
Staff said the judge will handle zoning- and code-related violations and certain misdemeanors once court scheduling is in place; frequency might be once or twice a week initially and could change with caseload. The office of the administrative officer of the courts will determine final scheduling, and staff said they will share updates with the commission as they receive them.
