During the financial-report discussion, staff informed the board that "SB 827" has passed and imposes new fiscal-training requirements for public-agency staff and board members. The presenter said the training will be required every two years and that the district must complete training for its board members by July 1.
Staff said they are researching training options and had found a California Special Districts Association webinar in early March, but noted the district is not currently a CSDA member and that the webinar may carry a cost. The board asked about potential county-provided training; staff said the county had not yet announced a free option and they will return with more information.
