The Eustace Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously Aug. 7 to propose a debt service tax rate of $0.2493 per $100 of taxable value, a rate the minutes state is $0.0240 higher than the district's calculated debt service. Trustee Katie McCallister made the motion and Trustee Joe Gomez seconded; the motion passed with all five trustees recorded as voting in favor.
According to the minutes, board members indicated the excess revenue collected from the proposed rate will be used for early debt retirement. The minutes cite Texas Education Code section 44.004(c)(5)(A)(ii)(b) in connection with the calculation the board referenced, and record the action as a formal motion that carried 5-0.
