County seeks tighter recycling coordination with City of Findlay; hub staff plan cameras and outreach

The board approved Resolution #126-26, authorizing a memorandum of agreement with the City of Findlay for coordination of recycling efforts and for Hancock County recycling bins. Commissioner Jeffrey Hunker said he appreciated the cooperation with the city.
Courtney O'Flaherty briefed the board on operations at the county Recycling Hub, saying public education remains necessary to reduce contamination and illegal dumping. "Effort still needs to be given to the public on what is allowed to be recycled," the record states. She said she would seek quotes for additional cameras and would investigate placing textile bins on county property, including checking zoning with Marion and Liberty townships.
Commissioner Timothy Bechtol will staff the Hub on Friday, March 6 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. to answer public questions. The board directed staff to follow up on zoning and camera estimates and to continue outreach to reduce dumping and contamination.
