Advocates press DC Health to publish overdue 'Death with Dignity' reports

Jaspreet Chowdhury of Compassion & Choices said the law requires data collection and that the reports help explain who uses the program and how it operates. “The DC death with dignity act went into effect in 2017, and we have yearly reports through 2022. However, we are missing the last 3 years of reports,” Chowdhury said, adding that advocates received a promise from DC Health to publish the overdue items but had not seen them by 2026‑02‑17.
Other witnesses urged DC Health to make the reports timely and to protect patient confidentiality while ensuring transparency. The committee will press the agency to provide a firm publication schedule and to make the historical reports available to the public.
