Pollard explained the district has 745 votes it may cast in the county process; the chief appraiser counts votes and declares the five candidates with the largest totals before Dec. 31.
The board approved nominating Andy James by motion of Cheyenne Kizer, seconded by Loyd Hopson; the motion passed unanimously (7–0). Pollard said official results of the county appointment process will be received prior to the statutory deadline.
