The Gatesville ISD Board voted Oct. 21 to adopt a resolution supporting military-connected families and directing campuses to pursue Purple Star designation, which recognizes districts that meet criteria for assisting military students and families.
Bridget Register, Executive Director of Bilingual Education & Accountability, presented the resolution as a starting point for meeting the designation criteria; the board adopted the resolution by motion from Linda Maxwell, seconded by Mary Anne Leib, with a 4-0 vote and three trustees absent. The designation lasts two years and applications are accepted annually, a point Register raised while recommending adoption.
