Robert Meyer, the district's attorney handling tax collections, presented the annual report on delinquent taxes assigned to his firm related to the 2023 levy and prior referrals. Meyer stated that historically the portion of delinquent taxes referred for collection represents under 3% of the total levy and that collection rates for the district are between 99 and 100 percent.
Meyer also explained that the firm's fees for collection services are paid by the delinquent taxpayers rather than the district's general fund. The presentation was informational and no board action was taken.
