Granville planning-board chair resigns; Russel Bronson appointed; Deputy Mayor Smith announces he will not seek re-election after 25 years

Trustee Dean Hyatt moved to accept the letter of resignation from Planning Board Chairwoman Michele Smith; Trustee Denise Davies seconded, and the board accepted the resignation with regret. Trustee Davies noted Chairwoman Smith’s "many years of distinguished service to the Board."
Mayor Paul Labas then appointed Russel Bronson to serve as chairman of the Village Planning Board. Trustee Heather Leaman moved to accept the appointment, Trustee Davies seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Labas also publicly thanked Deputy Mayor Gordon Smith for 25 years of service to the village and said Smith has decided not to run for re-election; the mayor wished candidates well for the three open board seats.
