Mayor Paul Labas opened public comment at 7:35 p.m., and resident Peter Kischak addressed the board about what he described as a "significant rise in electricity costs," asking what the community could do to have its concerns heard at the state level. "He wanted to know what the community could do to have their concerns heard at the State level," the meeting record states.
Labas suggested that constituents contact local state representatives Matt Simpson and Jake Ashby to raise concerns. Trustee Dean Hyatt connected the energy-cost issue to municipal utility pricing, saying higher energy costs were among the reasons cited for the proposed increases to water and sewer rents in the tentative budget.
