Planners present options for D & H Trail and County Route 24 pedestrian and bicycle improvements; materials open for 30 days of comment

Mayor Paul Labas introduced Jack Mance, senior transportation planner with the Adirondack–Glens Falls Transportation Council, and Dan Rourke, an engineering consultant with Barton & Loguidice, who presented findings and recommendations related to conditions on and around the D & H Trail and County Route 24. The presentation covered surface materials, crossing treatments, signage and sidewalk improvements that could be installed within the village and along the county route.
Mr. Mance said the study followed recommendations in the 2023 RERC action plan and a Washington County request to examine bicycle and pedestrian feasibility on County Route 24. "This information will be placed on their website for the next 30 days for a public comment," the presenters said; the materials are intended to give residents an opportunity to review options and submit feedback prior to any design or construction decisions.
The board did not vote on any changes at the March 3 meeting; the presentation was informational and the planners signaled that next steps include public comment followed by further engineering and design work if the project proceeds.
