After reconvening from executive session, the board approved the hiring of recommended professional staff: Ruth Domel and Jessica Ballard as teachers at Gainesville Junior High. The motion to approve the hires passed unanimously, 5–0.
The board then considered multiple personnel matters related to alleged contract abandonment. For each named employee the board voted to render a finding that ‘‘good cause did not exist’’ for the resignations and directed district staff to notify the employees and submit complaints to the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) under cited sections of the Texas Education Code and the Texas Administrative Code. The named employees were Elizabeth Coleman, Tamra Warner, Sherry Rettinger, Chaney Seydler and Whitney Galubenski. Each motion passed unanimously, 5–0.
