FSHISD presents STAAR interim assessment predictions and steps for targeted instruction

Teaching and Learning Coordinator Lori Fuller and campus principals presented results from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) STAAR Interim Assessments and recommended next steps to support student achievement.
"An interim is not a summative assessment of what has been taught, it is an assessment of this year's entire curriculum," Lori Fuller said during the overview, emphasizing that interim assessments predict spring STAAR performance and are used for instruction rather than accountability. Presentation slides showed predicted changes in performance levels across several grades; for example, a slide reported a predicted increase in third-grade students in the "Did Not Meet" category from 32% (2023 Fall) to 36% (2024 Fall) and highlighted gains in several secondary grades.
Campus leaders outlined next steps: create rosters based on growth measures for spiral reviews, small-group instruction on priority TEKS standards, weekly coach-administration meetings, professional learning (including Marzano vocabulary strategies and Lead4ward materials), and HB 4545/1416-aligned goal-setting conferences with students.
District staff framed the interim results as a diagnostic snapshot to guide focused instruction rather than a final accountability measure.
