FSHISD outlines emergency operations, trainings and safety projects

District Director Scott Stuller reported the Emergency Operations Plan was approved and uploaded to TEA, safety trainings and drills were completed, and safety projects (new radios and crosswalk installations) are underway.
Fort Sam Houston ISD’s Director of Safety and Security, Scott Stuller, briefed trustees on the district’s Emergency Operations Plan and recent safety activities at the Oct. 31 meeting. The minutes state the plan was reviewed and approved by the District Safety & Security Committee on July 25 and uploaded to the Texas Education Agency’s portal (Sentinel) on Oct. 4; it includes a Cybersecurity Annex.
Stuller reported recent safety trainings—"Staying Safe" for grades 6–12 covering lockdown and intruder awareness, a tabletop active-attacker exercise for administrators, and a reunification practice scheduled Nov. 1—and described ongoing practices including weekly door checks and drills. The minutes also note installation of new radios at the elementary campus and crosswalk installations at Winans/Tech building and COOP locations.
The board received the safety report as part of the superintendent’s operational updates; no board action on safety policy or emergency plan changes was recorded in the minutes.
