The Goliad ISD board opened a public hearing at 6:09 p.m. to notify the community of the district’s intent to apply for federal funding under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
Jennifer Resendez, the district finance director, provided trustees a handout and described the primary Title funding streams available under ESSA, saying, “The Every Student Succeeds Act is federal legislation that provides the State of Texas with an opportunity to leverage significant federal resources in support of Texas' commitment to providing equity, access and opportunity for all students.” Resendez outlined Title I, Part A (basic programs), Title II, Part A (effective instruction), Title III (English language acquisition), and Title IC (student support and academic enrichment) as potential funding channels and stated the district intends to apply for ESSA allocations based on its student count and economically disadvantaged data.
No members of the public spoke during the hearing. The board closed the hearing and took no formal action at that time; the item was informational and served as public notice of the district’s intent to pursue federal Title funds.
