Gladewater ISD board approves clean 2023–24 audit, several finance measures

The Gladewater ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously on Nov. 18 to accept a clean financial audit for the 2023–24 fiscal year and to approve several finance items brought forward by CFO Candy Keller.
Kelly Birdwell of Wilf & Henderson, P.C., presented the district's annual audit and reported it "was a clean audit," thanking Keller and her staff for their work. Following that presentation, the board approved the auditor's report 7-0. The board also approved four tax refunds requested by the tax office: Rosa Martinez ($1,275.59), Marcus Kennedy Jr. ($1,680.51), Timothy Beall ($1,450.23) and Kristy Lindsay ($2,849.07), all tied to homestead-exemption adjustments.
Mrs. Keller presented Fund 199 Budget Amendment #7 to move fund balance to cover November retention incentives for 330 employees; the board approved the amendment 7-0 (the transcript records the motion as referencing "Budget amendment #6," an internal numbering inconsistency that the board nonetheless approved). The board additionally voted 7-0 to approve a purchase of beef in excess of $25,000 paid from the Local Foods for Schools reimbursable grant.
