Steger public safety and infrastructure reports: calls, inspections, water-main breaks

Board heard monthly reports: Code Enforcement contacted roughly 75 residents and issued 19 violation letters/tickets, Public Works handled eight water-main breaks in June, and Fire Chief Mike Long said the department responded to 162 calls in June (124 medical, 38 fire, 43 mutual aid).
At the July 21 meeting, Director of Public Infrastructure Dave Toepper reported enforcement and public-works activity for June and Fire Chief Mike Long delivered the fire-department activity summary.
Toepper said Code Enforcement contacted roughly 75 residents in June, issued 35 48-hour notices that resulted in 19 violation letters or tickets, completed 9 business-license inspections and 54 re-occupancy inspections. He also reported that Public Works responded to 8 water main breaks during June.
Fire Chief Mike Long reported the department logged 162 calls in June, including 124 medical calls, 38 fire calls and 43 mutual-aid calls to surrounding communities. Police Chief Greg Smith summarized training and outreach, noting he and Deputy Chief Fajman held a "Coffee with a Cop" event; Chief Smith also announced, "This Wednesday, July 23rd is Speed Awareness Day. Please do your part and slow down."
