Steger leaders say regional speed enforcement will step up in July

Deputy Police Chief Pete Fajman told the Board that Will County and several neighboring jurisdictions will partner with the Illinois Department of Transportation in a July speed-enforcement program. "They are going to be writing speeding tickets," Fajman said, and the operation will require officers to meet a minimum number of citations per hour.
Mayor Joyce reiterated the enforcement effort and said that the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Illinois State Police and "200 police agencies locally" are stepping up enforcement of speeding. The board recorded the report; no ordinance or local policy change was proposed at the meeting.
