The Grundy Center City Council received the city's FY2024 audit on March 17, 2025. Mayor Dr. Paul Eberline introduced Rachelle Thompson, CPA, who presented the report and told the council the audit "went very well and she has issued an unmodified opinion."
Thompson said the audit showed that the city's financial statements and cash fund balances were presented fairly and reconciled with bank records. She identified findings consistent with prior years, including weaknesses in internal control and segregation of duties and issues with controls over utility billing, collections and delinquent-account reconciliations. Thompson said the audit will be submitted to the State of Iowa Auditor's office by March 31, 2025. No formal council action was required.
