The Groesbeck Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a two-year student athletic and accident insurance plan on Sept. 16, 2024.
At the meeting Anthony Figueroa presented the plan and the estimated district cost: $12,000 per year for the policy with an additional $1,560 for basic catastrophic coverage. Trustees noted that parents may purchase additional voluntary accidental insurance if they choose. The board voted to approve Pan America Life Student Athletic and Accident Insurance as presented; the motion, made by Trustee Stephen Bradley and seconded by Trustee Jim Longbotham, carried unanimously.
The approval covers prekindergarten through 12th grade. The minutes do not specify the effective start date of the coverage or whether the district will subsidize any portion for individual students; those details were not specified in the minutes.
