Residents press Steger leaders on burning rules, nuisance properties and street safety

Ramona DeLaRosa and other residents described ongoing problems with a neighbor at 3400 Morgan St., including junked items and a screened fence that now blocks sightlines when pulling onto Steger Road. Staff and the police were described as regularly issuing tickets but the problems continue.
Kathy Hannon asked about a house at Miller Woods damaged when a vehicle struck it years ago; Director of Public Infrastructure Dave Toepper said citations have been issued and staff are pursuing further steps. Mayor Joyce asked residents to give the administration time to follow up and urged callers to report street safety issues such as mini‑bikes to the police so officers can respond.
The board did not take formal action on these public comments but recorded that code enforcement and police continue to engage the properties cited.
