The Santaquin City Council on March 17 voted to appoint Morgan Brin as the city’s community development director and approved his employment agreement.
Staff told the council Brin was the top candidate after interviews and had previously led community development for Vineyard City for nine to 10 years. At the meeting Brin said he is “passionate about building communities” and emphasized working with staff, the mayor and council to align planning and economic development with family needs.
Councilmembers made the selection in a motion and then approved a separate resolution authorizing the employment agreement, following the city’s standard process for final selection and contract approval. Council members voted in favor by voice vote.
Brin told the council he found the city’s executive team and staff “really wonderful” and said he values longevity in municipal staff. The mayor and staff said Brin’s projected start date is March 31.
The council’s approval completes the hiring steps the city described during the interview process; the employment agreement and the final selection were each moved and approved separately per council procedure.
What’s next: Brin will meet staff and get oriented to current projects; councilmembers said they look forward to an early onsite review and to working with him on economic development and planning priorities.
