Frankston ISD board cancels May 3 election, declares unopposed candidates elected

The Frankston ISD Board of Trustees approved a resolution March 6 canceling the May 3, 2025 school board election and declaring the unopposed candidates for Place 1, Place 3, Place 4 and Place 5 elected. The motion to approve the resolution was made by board member Josh Hokit and seconded by board member Jin Xu Spinhirne; the motion "carried 5:0."
Board President Brian Merritt called the special meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. at the district administration office board room and led the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting record shows five voting trustees were present and two trustees were absent; with no public comments the board moved directly to the resolution and adjourned at 6:01 p.m.
Under the resolution, the unopposed candidates will still be required to be sworn in and sign the oath of office at the district's May meeting. The meeting record includes attestation lines signed by Board President Brian Merritt and Board Secretary Junior Mascorro.
