HPISD recognizes UIL performers, announces 15 National Merit Semi‑Finalists and $26M raised for lead fundraising campaign

Band Director Daren Jordan recognized Highland Park students Chiara Shawver, Laya Mani and Lucy Zeng for winning the Outstanding Performer Award at the UIL Solo and Ensemble contest. The recognition was noted during the Sept. 17 regular meeting as part of the district's routine recognitions for extracurricular achievements.
Superintendent Dr. Mike Rockwood reported that 15 Highland Park Scots were named National Merit Semi-Finalists. Vice President Bryce Benson and other trustees also highlighted recent community events, and Board members noted the HP Education Foundation's Lead for Tomorrow campaign has raised $26 million of its $40 million goal, including two planned naming opportunities for Highlander Field (Randy Allen Field) and the indoor facility (The Garry Weber Indoor Facility).
