Henderson ISD to pay $39,563.43 to TMHP after appeal denied

Henderson ISD trustees voted Oct. 14 to pay $39,563.43 to the Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership related to an overpayment from the district’s 2023 cost report.
Nikki Warner reported that a letter dated Aug. 30, 2025, and received Sept. 8, 2025, notified the district of the overpayment for the period Oct. 1, 2022–Sept. 30, 2023; the district’s informal appeal to HHSC was denied on Apr. 8, 2025. After consultation with legal counsel the district elected not to pursue a formal appeal and the board approved payment. Warner also noted Henderson ISD withdrew from SHARS on Apr. 21, 2025.
The motion to approve payment was made by Loy Dorsey, seconded by Dr. John Taylor, and carried unanimously, 6-0. The minutes show no additional conditions attached to the payment; trustees recorded the action as a settlement of the administrative overpayment.
