Fire department: most Monte Sereno hydrants inspected; repairs typically resolved within weeks

During its six‑month report the Santa Clara County Fire Department reviewed hydrant inspection workflows and repair timelines for Monte Sereno.
Assistant Chief Dennis Lally said 188 hydrant inspections were assigned to the Quito station this past year and 155 have been completed to date. When a hydrant is found to be out of service during inspection the engine company logs it; fire prevention then coordinates with the water purveyor to assign a repair, which Lally said generally takes "max 2 to 3 week turnaround for repair." He told council the department updates its records in live time when hydrants are restored to service.
Staff also said the public can report an out‑of‑service hydrant between inspection cycles; those reports trigger the same repair process. The department characterized extended out‑of‑service hydrants as rare and said it works with water providers to minimize outages.
