The Hale Center ISD School Board on Jan. 13 voted unanimously to adopt a resolution approving the settlement of litigation styled Region 17 Education Service Center et al v. Conterra Ultra Broadband, LLC, Cause No. DC‑2022‑CV‑160, and authorized the superintendent and Region 17 representatives acting as fiscal agent to execute documents necessary to effectuate the settlement.
Trustee Michael Gonzales moved the resolution; Trustee Meranda Sierra seconded. The motion passed 6–0. The board then entered closed session later in the meeting for consultation with legal counsel under Texas Government Code §551.071, a step the board recorded on the agenda and that is consistent with discussing litigation and settlement authority.
