Facilities staff provided a detailed rundown of summer projects and safety work across district buildings and playgrounds.
Mr. Cossey said crews nearly finished the Simpson playground, poured 60 yards of concrete at Big Elm Elementary and installed carpet in multiple schools. He also described drainage work (for example, 400 feet of drains at Lincoln High School) intended to prevent water intrusion during heavy rain.
On safety, Mr. Cossey told the board the district received 158 citations across 20 schools from the fire marshal, many for what he described as "behavioral" issues — items stored in front of electrical panels, propped doors, power strips and similar concerns — and that the district completed a corrective‑action (BRIM) plan to address the findings.
Board members acknowledged the work and scheduled additional training and monitoring during the coming days as staff return for pre‑school activities.
