KGCB explores composting and food-waste projects with UNM/NMSU partners

Tracy Lassiter described a composting and food-waste reduction project led by students at the Albuquerque campus; she said the effort is intended to reduce landfill waste and address food insecurity while offering hands-on learning opportunities. Tracy will share Eva Stricker’s contact information with KGCB and partner organizations.
Bud Lopez and other participants expressed interest in coordination with the Hozho Academy gardening club and the Hope Garden; technical issues delayed one response during the meeting, and the board recommended adding a formal composting discussion to the next agenda so tribal and city NMSU agents and Hope Garden staff can provide updates.
