Board tables contested change-of-assignment pending more information; item moved to Aug. 11 special meeting

During consideration of personnel item 10a (new hires and changes of assignment), one trustee said they did not have enough information to approve the change-of-assignment portion and moved to table that part of the item. The trustee cited the earlier CSEA cease-and-desist demand and asked for more information before approving changes that might affect a bargaining-unit employee.
The board amended the motion to approve the personnel report while removing the change-of-assignment portion and then agreed to move the change-of-assignment discussion to the August 11 special meeting. The motions were made and seconded and recorded as passing unanimously (5-0).
Several trustees stated they were uncomfortable discussing individual personnel details in open session and preferred to have fuller information available before acting. No personnel change affecting an employee’s hours was approved at the meeting; the specified change-of-assignment will be considered at the special meeting.
